What happens when a qualified doctor decides to examine life’s biggest questions — and then turns the whole existential crisis into comedy? For Riaad Moosa, the answer is What’s the Point?
After taking audiences on a journey through laughter, confusion, absurdity and a fair amount of existential questioning in theatres across South Africa, the doctor-turned-comedian is bringing the comedy experience to screens, with What’s the Point? officially coming to YouTube at the end of September 2026.
True to Moosa’s signature style, this is comedy that isn’t content with simply setting up a punchline and waiting for the laugh. Instead, What’s the Point? takes a sideways look at some of the biggest questions we tend to ask ourselves — and some we probably wish we hadn’t started thinking about at 2am. What is truth? Why are we here? What actually makes something funny? And, perhaps most importantly, what’s the point of trying to make sense of any of it when the world itself can sometimes feel like one enormous joke?
Blending observational humour, storytelling and thoughtful reflections on life, culture and the wonderfully strange business of being human, Moosa explores everything from life and death to meaning, superiority and our seemingly endless attempts to understand the chaos around us. And now, audiences who didn't catch the show on stage — or those who simply want to experience it again from the comfort of their couch — will get their chance.
The official YouTube release is scheduled for the end of September 2026 on Riaad Moosa’s official YouTube channel, opening the show up to audiences wherever they happen to be. For fans who like getting there before everyone else, however, there is an earlier opportunity. YouTube Front Row Members will receive limited exclusive early access from 21 August 2026, giving members the chance to watch What’s the Point? ahead of its public release. It’s a natural next step for a comedy experience that has already connected with audiences in theatres. Moving from the stage to YouTube means the questions — and, hopefully, the punchlines — can travel considerably further.
Moosa has built a career around making the everyday feel strangely fascinating, finding humour in the situations, contradictions and conversations that make up ordinary life. As a qualified medical doctor turned award-winning comedian, his comedy has always occupied an interesting space between entertainment and observation, often inviting audiences to laugh while simultaneously wondering why they are laughing in the first place. You may not finish the show with a definitive answer to the title question. In fact, that would probably defeat the purpose.
