OFF CAMPUS - AMAZON PRIME

There are certain series you casually press play on and then there are series that hijack your entire evening, steal your sleep schedule, and leave you staring at your ceiling wondering why fictional people suddenly have control over your emotional wellbeing. Off Campus falls firmly into category two. Based on the beloved Elle Kennedy books, Amazon Prime really looked at us and said: "You know what? Here's hockey, feelings, tension, fake dating, and emotional damage. Enjoy." And I absolutely did.

First things first — can we discuss the chemistry between Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli? Because somebody in casting deserves flowers, a bonus, and possibly a paid vacation. Their Hannah and Garrett dynamic doesn't feel forced or over-polished; it feels natural — the kind of chemistry where you're smiling at your screen one moment and clutching your chest the next. Reports from interviews even note that their off-screen friendship helped build that on-screen connection, and honestly? It shows.

Ella Bright's Hannah carries this quiet strength that sneaks up on you. She isn't written as the typical "I'm quirky and awkward so love me" character. She's layered, vulnerable, funny, and you find yourself rooting for her almost immediately. Then Belmont Cameli walks in as Garrett Graham and suddenly I understood every single romance trope editor screaming into the void. Confident hockey star? Check. Secret emotional depth? Check. Golden retriever energy wrapped in emotional baggage? Also check. And listen… fake dating remains one of the greatest gifts television has given humanity. I don't make the rules.

What I appreciated most though was that Off Campus didn't survive purely on chemistry and attractive people staring dramatically at each other. Underneath the flirting and the "just one bed"-adjacent tension, there are heavier emotional themes and genuine character growth. It balances the lighter moments with heart in a way that doesn't feel preachy or overwhelming.

My only complaint? Eight episodes felt personally offensive. I blinked and suddenly I was at the finale asking Amazon if they thought this was funny.

Mila Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)

Final verdict: Came for the hockey boys. Stayed for Hannah and Garrett. Left emotionally attached and preparing for Season 2 like it's my full-time job.
